Our drive from Michigamme to Houghton was misty about half the way.
The clouds were starting to thin now. This is our first glimpse of Keweenaw Bay on Lake Superior at a roadside stop near Baraga, MI
Here is another view from that roadside stop.
We were close to the #5 on the map when we took the above pictures.
We are at the City of Houghton RV park. Really nice place. This is our backyard at our current RV site. This is the Portage River which separates Houghton and Hancock. There is only one bridge that crosses this water.
This is the same scene as the above picture only at midnight. Yes midnight. Tic & Dusty actually stayed up that late. We are so far north that it doesn't even start to get dark until about 10pm.
This beautiful sail boat went by shortly after we parked.
Here are 3 kayakers heading up river.
This picture of this speed boat is to give a perspective of how wide the river is.
Here we are settled into campsite #8. We have a concrete pad, good wifi, cable and full hookups all for $30 per night.
We are on the opposite of the river. Tic was able to zoom in on our coach. See our flag?

Here is the City RV Park from the top of the chutes & ladders. You cannot see our site in this picture.
This is the slide we chose to slide down. See me at the bottom? Look how small I appear. That gives a perspective on how tall this piece of equipment is. Tic slid down next.
We are taking the self quided walking tour of Houghton. There are so many snow mobile signs around here! It must be the main mode of transportation during the winter.
Here is a pretty house on the opposite side of the street as the river. Love that porch. But would not want to be going up and down it in snowy weather!
This house was on the same road headed into downtown Houghton. Another great porch.
This is THE bridge that goes from Houghton to Hancock and on. The middle of this bridge lifts to let tall ships through. Hancock is actually on an island. Farther out the island are a couple of old copper mines, a couple of lighthouses and at the tip is Fort Wilkins.
We plan to make a day trip to that area one day while we are here.
This building looks like an old railroad station to us. Now however it is full of doctors offices.
This is an old smelting plant on the Hancock side of the river.
Houghton is the birthplace of professional hockey. James Dee built the first stadium and organized the first professional hockey team. The first stadium was wood and burned down. This is the second stadium and is called the Amphidrome.
Here is more info on this building and the team.
Here is the town clock. It is about midway through town on the main street going through downtown.
The Douglass House has interesting architecture. Also notice the brick road. The road going through downtown is brick the whole way. Tic thinks it was about 1 mile long; however, it felt like at least 2 miles long.
I was surprised this old Mueller House was still being used.
Dusty found a buddy.
Tic found a buddy also.
This wall of bicycle wheels was the side of an outdoor eatery.
