Show Low, AZ

Wednesday & Thursday, September 26 & 27, 2018

We relocated to Show Low, AZ on Wednesday. We stayed at Woodfield RV Park. It is a 55+ park. 

The sites here are not very wide and we barely had room to park our car. Also the site was barely long enough before it severely sloped towards the street.  We never could get perfectly level. Also the streets were narrow and not easy to maneuver a 40' motorcoach. While it was a beautiful area, we will not return to this park with this rig. The other good thing about this park was that it is part of Passport America and we could get 3 nights at $25 each.

Thursday we took a walk on the Rim walk in town. It was not as impressive as we expected based on the write-up.

 Look at the knurled branches in the tree.

 This was the only high point along the walk.

 Tic went down the hill a little ways to try for a better picture. Below was his view. All we could see were lots of pine trees. The pine forest was very dense.

Look how the rocks on the edge of the canyon seemed to be slipping away.

It is unusual to see these two trees, one a pine tree the other an alligator cypress, together because they require opposite growing conditions. Apparently this area along the Mogollon Rim is the only area were you will find these 2 trees growing together.

This is the sign showing the trail we walked. It was nice to get out and take a walk. Show Low and Pinetop are pretty towns.
We did enjoy the weather and beauty of the area. We will be at our winter home, Desert Gardens RV Park, near Florence, AZ on Saturday.

Desert Gardens RV Park, Florence, AZ Part 2

March 2018

We stayed at Desert Gardens until March 21st.  Dusty's accounting project took a little longer than anticipated. She and her team finally finished their project. Everyone at the park was pleased with the results.

This post will show a few sunsets etc for the first 3 weeks of March.

We leave tomorrow morning for a 9 day journey headed to Myrtle Beach SC to spend spring break with our son's children.

Desert Gardens RV Park, Florence, AZ Part 1

February, 2018

We spent the whole month of February at our winter home, Desert Gardens.   Dusty is the chairman of the Finance Committee and was busy this month installing a new accounting system for the RV park.

Most of the following pictures are some of the beautiful sunsets we get.

This hawk visits regularly watching for ground squirrels.

 One afternoon there was a rainstorm in the distance and this beautiful rainbow appeared!

 Above is the eastward sunset a little early one evening. Below is westward a little later in the evening.

 The hole in the clouds this evening was like a fireball in the sky.

This is the full moon on the last day of February.  

Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse Super Blue Blood Moon

Jan 30 & 31, 2018

The moon looked full on Jan 30 and we got the pictures below.

Then on the morning of the lunar eclipse super blue blood moon we got up at 5 am and started taking pictures. We took a lot of pictures and many did not come out well I've narrowed it down to the best.

By now the sun is starting to rise and the sky is getting lighter.  You can see how tiny the moon looks from here.  That should give you perspective as to how much the camera lens was zoomed in.

Desert Gardens Early January and Quartzsite

January 01 through 14, 2018

Well, here it is April 17 and I have not posted since the end of December.  I'm going to start catching up.

We stayed parked at Desert Gardens half of January.  We did leave to go to Quartzsite for 4 days and then another 10 days visiting our daughter and her family in Los Alamos, NM.

We have beautiful sunsets almost every evening in Arizona.

I could not tell you about the sunrises because I'm not up that early.  

 This is an example taken during the first half of January.

On January 17 we left for a few days in the desert at Quartzsite with the Beaver Club. 

If I remember correctly there were 62 rigs at this rally.

We got together for breakfast and dinner every day. Every evening we had a bon fire. Above you can see the start of the tables where we gather for our meals. Also in the foreground is the start of the firewood.  We each were asked to bring our tables and 2 arm loads of firewood. Only about half the attendees have arrived so neither the gathering area nor the firewood pile are complete yet.

 The mountain views were magnificent and the weather was wonderful while we were there.

This is one of the beautiful sunsets we had while in Quartzsite.  It was a great time with the Beaver gang.

Desert Gardens, Florence, AZ Mid-Sept to Mid-Oct

Sept 11 thru Oct 9, 2017

This is just a shorty posting, we are enjoying the beautiful sunsets and wispy clouds, and we were able to view the Harvest Moon.  The little RV has been completed and taken to a consignment lot that was recommended to us.  We are confident that it will sell in God's time, and we are not anxious about it.  So this post will share some of the photos we have taken recently.

More of our Winter home community members are slowly returning.  And we leave, to head to New Mexico to get a Grandson fix, (about 10 days) and then on to Texas for a short time before we return to AZ.

Today we will arrive in our winter home in Florence, AZ. 

 We have parked our smaller RV on one of our rental lots. Once we get the jack fixed, it will go on the market. It has been great for our trip!

We got out main "home" out of storage and back to Desert Gardens. Now to determine how the coach fared in the heat of AZ while it was in storage.

WOW, we are having some beautiful sunsets here in AZ. We will be staying here until about mid-Oct when we will hit the road again headed back to Texas via New Mexico.
