Various Activities done in Myrtle Beach, SC Visit

During April, 2018

We were blessed enough to be at Jason's to help celebrate his birthday.
These are candles that relight.  It was fun.

One Monday Jason took the day off.  We played a 3-par golf course.  I'm a terrible golfer and Jason helped me get a little better.  It was a cool and windy morning, but we had lots of fun.
After golf we went to a restaurant on the Marsh Walk in Murrells Inlet.

After lunch we walked the Marsh Walk and saw these birds.
We did not get pictures of "Goat Island" which had sleeping goats on it. Too funny.

Another day we took a walk on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk.
The boards on the Boardwalk were in a beautiful design.
Below is the Skywheel. It is 187ft tall.

2018 Jeep Jam in Myrtle Beach, SC

Saturday, April 14, 2018

Today our son, Jason, and us went to the first annual Jeep Jam.  Not only was there an obstacle course, but also many vendors and food trucks.

Below are several pictures of different parts of the obstacle course.

Above is a drone they had filming the mud pit below.  We only have videos of Jeeps going through the mud pit. Sorry we cannot post videos.

These 2 Jeeps crawled up halfway and got their pictures taken.  We only saw one Jeep crawl all the way over this pile of cars.

Below only a few of the Jeeps that were on display for sale. I thought it took talent to park some of the Jeeps seen below. Also I did not put pictures in of the Jeep that was modified with a diesel engine, raised total new suspension, and body was modified also.  Too much to put in this blog.

They also had displays of older Jeeps that had been all decked out.  We spent several hours and had fun watching the obstacle course.

Cypress Campground, Socastee, SC

April, 2018 - continued

We stayed 2 weeks at Cypress Camping Resort.  It was a lovely place. We had a site facing the inter-coastal waterway in Socastee, SC (near Myrtle Beach, SC). They had laundry facilities, an outdoor pool, restrooms with showers, free kayaks and docks to fish from.

This is our view out the front window of the coach.  So peaceful!

Above and below pictures are taken from a dock while looking both up and down the inter-coastal waterway.

This is a close-up of the houses in the picture above this one.

Above and below are pictures of the inland fresh water pond.
The reflection of this uniquely shaped tree is marvelous!

One day as we were walking around the fresh water pond, we saw this water snake swimming along. He came out of the water onto this log.  We researched it and found out it is a redbelly water snake. If captured, this snake will not hesitate to bite while releasing a foul smelling musk from its glands. Like other water snakes, the red belly is not a constrictor and is not venomous so, the fish and amphibians that make up its diet are all swallowed live.

There is a "swing" bridge close by.  Tic got this picture of the bridge open (swung sideways) while this sailboat passes through.  On sunny days, we could see up to 20 boats pass by that required the bridge to swing open. Below are pictures of some of the different types of boats we saw.

It was amazing to me how many large boats of all kinds came through the waterway on sunny days. Very few boats came through on cloudy days.

One of our sunny afternoons, Tic decided to take a kayak out in the inter-coastal waterway. I stayed on shore and took pictures. The current was strong. He worked to get upstream and gently floated back to the park. He had fun!

This heron landed on the opposite side of the inter-coastal waterway. Tic is such a fantastic photographer!

Myrtle Beach Travel Park in Myrtle Beach, SC

April, 2018

We stayed about 10 days at this park. We spent most of our time with the family so not very many pictures.

The park had a pretty fountain and fresh water lake with fountains and beach access for those that like sand.

The park also has beach access. Below are several pictures we took on the beach.

If you like the beach, this is a great place to stay.  It has both indoor and outdoor pools, playgrounds and lots of children activities.

Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, SC

Wednesday, April 4, 2018

It is supposed to be a rainy day today so we planned to go to the Ripley's Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, SC.  It was very crowded which was not a surprise since it was spring break week.

This is a large moray eel.  There were at least 6 eels in this tank.

Again I cannot post a video so can't show the grandkids patting stringrays as they swam by.

We had a great morning! We played games in the afternoon. We are enjoying spring break with the grandkids!

Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet, SC

Tuesday, April 3, 2018

It is supposed to be a beautiful day so we are taking the grandkids, Isabel and Chase, to Brookgreen Gardens.  There is so much beauty there in the many gardens, ponds, statues and even birds and animals . This is a post full of pictures with very little words.

This sculpture is named Isabel just like our granddaughter's name.

Above was a maze sort of thing created out of twigs and branches. Very interesting. Below Chase, Isabel and I are standing in one of the entrances/exits.

We were very surprised to see this flower Isabel found in a single but huge white flower bush.  There were pink flowers in the bush next to this bush of white flowers. Tic decided this flower refused to be like every other flower, i.e. a single color.

The grandchildren call us Nana and Papa Tic so I had to get a picture of this sign.

Above and below are just a couple of pictures of the dinosaur exhibit here for the month of April.

We spent about 4 hours at the park and didn't even get to see all of it.  The pictures in this blog are the ones I chose, but only a portion of the hundred plus pictures taken.
