After a good night's rest and after church, I wanted to get out and about. I saw online that there was supposed to be a parade and festival in Peoria, so convinced Tic we should go to the festival not the parade.
Above is as we cross the Illinois River on I-74. Below Tic got a picture of the river as we drove across.
Above and below are more views of the bridge. The one below is really unique.
We made it to the park where the festival is supposed to be.
This unusual group of metal art was along the river side. We did not see hardly any people and no sign of a festival.
So we decided to walk around a little. This propeller was on display. It is a memorial to one of the first tourist riverboats.

This is the Spirit of Peoria Riverboat. It does tours up and down the river. Still no people???
Guess what, Tic looked the date up on his phone and I got the date wrong. The festival is tomorrow.
We found a drive that was called the "most beautiful drive" by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1910. Grandview Drive was along the river and lined with beautiful houses.

There were also areas where the views of the river were magnificent.

This drive ended at the Tower Park.
The fountain above and the tower below were the main part of the park. There was also a playground.
There is an observation deck on top. The only way up is by elevator. So up we went.
The Illinois River is huge. The wide area is called Peoria Lake. The Illinois Indians called the lake "Fat Lake".

There were also pretty flowers in Tower Park.
As I drove around to the other side of the tower I saw this ten-foot fake woodpecker. See a close-up below.
Somebody has a good sense of humor.
It is time to head back. We are going to take a different route.
We crossed back across the Illinois River on IL-150. There were 2 bridges, one going each direction. Tic got this neat picture.

Today we are leaving Master Tech in Elkhart, IN after having our windshield replaced for the second time in less than 30 days. We are headed to East Peoria, IL which is at least 5.5 hours driving. We don't usually go that long in a day, but we are trying to jump back into our previous route and schedule.
We drove through lots of corn fields on our way. We enjoy looking at farm land.
This is our parking site at Mill Point RV Campground. As you can tell Dusty is cleaning the bugs off the front. She likes to get the bugs off pretty quick after we arrive at our destination because they are easier to get off.
The parking site is mostly level and plenty long for us to park both vehicles. We have FHU and 50 amp. This park could be VERY nice but needs work. Also apparently they have issues with flooding since they are right next to the Illinois River.
As we walked around this evening, we could tell there was water where it is not usually.
Tic keeps taking pictures of me so I decided to be silly.

Another beautiful evening! Sunset was about 7:40. It is getting earlier and earlier. And we had a time zone change!
We were so tired that we are going to bed at 9pm. Thank you Lord for another wonderful day!

Even though it is overcast, we are enjoying this morning since it is not raining. The lack of rain did not last long. It rained most of the way to OKAW Valley Campground in Brownstown, IL and was raining when we arrived AGAIN.
It was raining hard enough that we just leveled and stayed inside. The next morning the sun was shining so we walked around the campground.
Everything has been so green along our journey. I guess the large amounts of rain and high humidity are a big plus.
This was our view as we looked out our living room window the next morning. We were parked next to the park area.
The following 3 pictures show our site from several angles.
There was a nice swimming pool and a large covered pavilion with lots of picnic tables for groups to get together.
There was a pond at this park also. As we walked around we thought we were dodging dog poop, but it turned out to be goose poop.
The water was so still you could almost count the leaves in the reflections. Beautiful!!
We met this single guy that had this interesting camper. It looks like the back of an old GMC motorhome attached to an extended 350 Ford. It was actually manufactured by Revcon. They are no longer made. The guy had the whole vehicle covered in that Tuff Liner stuff they put in pickup beds.
We stayed here 2 days. I took the time to enjoy the sunshine, catch up on the blog and do laundry. Mostly enjoy the sunshine.
