George W Bush Library Museum

Thursday, May 24, 2018

This afternoon we went to Dallas to the Bush Library & Museum at Dusty's insistence.

The George W Bush Presidential Library & Museum is located on the SMU Campus. Laura Bush actually graduated from SMU.

Currently there is a special presentation called First Ladies of a Nation.  Above shows pictures of all the First Ladies.  I was surprised to read that in the early years of this nation many of the "First Ladies" were not the wives of the President.  However hostesses were needed so it could have been a daughter, sister, aunt or even unrelated woman. Very interesting fact to me.

No Child Left Behind was Laura Bush's program wanting to make sure all children could read.  She believed being able to read would lead to a better education which would lead to a better quality of life.

This is steel from one of the twin towers on the 9-11 terrorist attack. His reactions and planning were laid out. It was all very interesting!

Above and below are some of GW's beliefs.

Above is a beautiful bluebonnet painting and western sculpture and furniture piece that are from the oval office when GW Bush was President.

Above is the seal in the carpet in front of the desk in the Oval Office. Below I got to pretend to be Madame President.

The Oval Office is an exact replica of the office as it was when George W Bush was President.  We were told that even the windows behind the desk face the same direction as at the White House.

This is the current layout of the White House.  We really enjoyed our visit!

My Aunt Mary lives just a few blocks from SMU so we went to her house after we left here.
This is my aunt's house in Highland Park a subdivision of Dallas. It is a historical landmark.

My cousins and their children also came by.  We all had dinner together.
My aunt's son and my cousin David.

My Aunt Mary and her daughter, my cousin, Carolyn.
My cousin-in-law Camelia.  She is a beautiful and successful federal lawyer. She is married to my aunt's 2nd son,Ted, that was working and not able to attend dinner.

This is Julianna and Alli (left to right), my grand-cousins (if there is such a thing).  They are the girls of Camelia & Ted. It was a wonderful memory-making day!

I am not getting this post done until Tues, May 29.  We will be leaving Weatherford on Friday, June 2.

Jones Ranch (Dusty's brother)

Friday & Saturday May 18 & 19, 2018

Friday we took off for San Angelo area to visit my brother and family.  They live 40 miles east of San Angelo on a 119 acre ranch.  It is always interesting out there.

I was too busy playing with the grandnieces and grandnephews to remember to take pictures of the Guinea's, peacocks and various chickens. Nor did I get pictures of the cows, sheep and numerous dogs and cats.

My brother is building a new house a short distance from the old farm house. He had a pole barn erected and is doing everything else himself with the help of his youngest son.

This is a view of some open fields on their ranch.

Below are pictures of 3 of the 5 grand kids.

Grace attached herself to Tic.  We had a great time.  I see now I should have gotten more pictures.

High Tea with our Sunday School Class

Thursday, May 17, 2018

Just before the royal wedding, our Sunday School class had a high tea for everyone.  They encouraged everyone to come in all kinds of hats and gloves.

These two lovely ladies where in charge of this event.

There were lots of kinds of teas and snacks.

The room was beautifully decorated and many tables of various pretty cups and saucers.

Pretty tea pots and cups were everywhere.

This lady made her hat from a brown paper bag that she spray painted green and added a ribbon. Cute!

Many of the women dressed like these 2 ladies.

But of course Dusty had to be different.

It was a fun afternoon.

Weatherford, TX RV Park and Holland Lake City Park

May 1-6, 2018

We arrived at Hooves N Wheels RV Park & Horse Motel. We will be staying here for the month of May while Tic will be having cataract surgery on both eyes.

This is home for the month.  It is a nice clean well maintained park with clean laundry and restrooms.

One beautiful day, we went to Holland Lake Park here in Weatherford.

There were several of these Cypress trees around.  I'm fascinated by the roots.

It was a beautiful day at the park.

Travel from Myrtle Beach, SC to Weatherford, TX

Monday, April 23 to Monday, April 30, 2018

We spent 8 days traveling from Myrtle Beach, SC to Weatherford, TX. Most of our stops were not anything special so we did not take pictures.  However 2 stops were nice so I'm posting about them.

Meridian, MS
We found this pretty city park named Bonita Lakes. See below.

This pretty carousal horse was at the first parking lot in the park.

Canton, TX
We stayed at a lovely park and no it was not First Monday weekend so it very relaxing. This park had several ponds and a hiking trail through some of the undeveloped acreage.

We saw lots of birds especially cardinals, mockingbirds, blue jays and wrens.

These bushes were everywhere and blooming.  They smelled so sweet. I asked and was told they are a kind of holly.

Mommas and babies heading off in the sunset.  Nice way to end a beautiful day. We leave tomorrow.

Weatherford, TX
We are staying at Hooves N Wheels RV park. It is nothing special but where we need to be.
This is our site. We will be parked here for the month of May. Tic is going to have cataract surgery on both eyes.  We have not made any plans for when we leave. There probably won't be much in the way of posts, unless we do something special.
