Today we will be back in Texas for the first time in almost a year.
Wow leaving New Mexico after being there almost a month.
Wow, we are back in Texas! And a beautiful day to boot!
We are staying the night at the Oasis RV Park. This half buried RV is just across from the office. Cute.
Later that evening we learned this RV park is just a short distance from the Cadillac Ranch.
From the service road, this is the public art installation and sculpture. It was muddy and cold outside, so we did not walk out there.
This is one of the Cadillacs up close. You can see how muddy it is.
For dinner we decided to go to the Big Texan Steak Ranch, home of the 72oz steak. The restaurant will send a limo to your home, pick you up and drive you to the restaurant. So we called for the limo.
I know this picture is taken into the sun, but this is the limo and driver that picked us up at our site in the RV park.
This is the entrance to the Big Texan Steak Ranch.
This is the challenge meal a person must eat. I cut off the baked potato. It is hard to tell, but this 72 oz steak looks like a roast that would feed a family of 4 or 5.
This display case has the chocolate cake and carrot cake served for dessert. Not shown is a cheese cake and strawberry shortcake. The sizes are huge to say the least.
We got there about 6pm and were surprised it was so empty on a Friday night. As it turned out, it was only about 10 minutes later and the place was almost full.
After seeing the 72 oz steak and the huge sizes of deserts, we opted to share a BBQ plate. Then we shared a strawberry shortcake. We were both full but not uncomfortable. We were so glad we shared the meal.
The sidewalk near the motel next to the Big Texan had many of the brands used.
The motel was designed to resemble a main street in an old west town. This picture is a panoramic taken with Tic's new iphone 6+. The hotel is really a straight line.
After walking around the area, we got a limo ride back to our coach. What a fun evening!
Before we went to dinner, we went to an RV Museum here in Amarillo. I will put those pictures in a separate post.
