We have a 7 hour tour planned called "Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and Waterfall Explorer".
As we started our tour, the tree with the orange flowers (above) was pointed out to us. Below is a close up of the orange flowers.
We were told, it was just learned that this tree (unfortunately I don't remember the name of the tree) is harmful to native honey bees. The tour guide did not know any thing more.
Along our route above and below are views from the bus windows.
Our first stop was Rainbow Falls.
My new friend, Lynn, and I almost look like we are in a stockade. Ha Ha
We are excited about exploring Hawaii. This waterfall is so beautiful!
We were blessed with a beautifully sunny day so the rainbow here at Rainbow Falls was easily available to see.
This is the top of the Rainbow Falls.
Next we stopped at Akaka Falls.
Notice the top of the falls above the 2nd K in the sign.
Akaka Falls is 442 feet tall. WOW beautiful!
Next we stopped at a hotel that had a shop with macadamia nut samples. It also housed the office of the company doing our tour.
The views from this hotel are awesome. The picture above and the 2 below are some of the views.
This gorgeous Bird of Paradise was across from where we reloaded on the bus.
For lunch we stopped at Akatsuka Orchid Garden. However I have so many pictures of various orchids I will have to put that in the next post.
