Today we move to just west of Gunnison CO staying at Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch. We will be staying there nearly 2 weeks.
We did have to go over Monarch Pass at elevation 11,312 ft. This was our view on the way down. Can you see the winding road off in the distance?
Another downhill view. Notice the lush green fields on the left and the arid mountains/hills on the right. There was a river running through the fields on the left side. Amazing what a little water can do.
It took us about 2 hours to get to Gunnison.
A little west of Gunnison we are driving through Gunnison Canyon carved by the Gunnison River.
The Gunnison River is dammed up in a few places forming several lakes. This is the Blue Mesa Reservoir which is a very long and wide lake.
Our parking site is fairly wide, mostly level and has beautiful views.
Above is looking out our front window. Below is looking out our living room window at the reservoir.
There are several of these sitting areas throughout the park. This one happens to be just across the street from our site.
Neighbors 3 sites down had these flowers growing. Beautiful!
Another view of Blue Mesa Reservoir from the front gate of the RV park.
These pretty little birds are flying all around the park. I believe this is a juvenile male of the mountain bluebird.
It was breezy this evening and we saw someone in the park flying this colorful kite.
