EAA Airventure Day 2

Tuesday, July 29

Day 2 started about 8:30am.  We got a fantastic parking place this day.  Tic started his day at a drone seminar.
The person doing the seminar used his drones in making movies.

From here we walked over to the War Birds area. The next two pictures are planes flown in by attendees. They were parked in an area before we got to the War Birds.

We finally made it two the War Birds.

The number of planes in this area is amazing.  The next several pictures are to show only some of the War Birds parked in this area.
There was a pilot talking about flying this plane.  Interesting talk!
Just behind these planes they had a WWII encampment set up.  We just missed a program they had done.
We kept walking and kept seeing more and more planes.  Keep looking.
These are the bombers that went on aircraft carriers.
Anyone could take a ride in this B25 for only $475 each.
This is one of the original Blue Angels planes.
This Ford tri-engine was also available for rides.  This ride only cost $75 each and was flying most of the day every day.

In the middle of the War Birds was this motorcycle.  Someone put a 7 cylinder Pratt & Whitney rotary.  Outrageous!

Now we are back to an area with more attendee's planes.  Just keep in mind that all pictures are of areas we have not been before.  I have no idea how many planes flew in for the event.
This is one of the parachutists at the start of the air show today.
Look at the size of the flag that parachutist carried down.  Every day's air show started with parachutists and one would have an American Flag.  As the American Flag came down the National Anthem was played also.  It was GREAT!
This particular bi-plane performed every day and was spectacular every day!
This is the little plane that was just flying.  The pilot is now pushing it into its parking spot.
We had several groups flying in formation today.  Keep looking.
This is a larger group.  There are at least 3 groups flying at the same time.  Each group is making large circles out.
Here are two groups flying over at different altitudes.  Beautiful view.
Here those same two groups are coming towards each other.  There were also several individual planes flying during all this.  See below.
These flew in together then separated and did individual stuff.
This pilot was a fantastic performer also!
Here is another great performer.  They were all good.  The flips and rolls they could do with their planes was amazing to me.
This is that same plane flying upside down.
This was a big twin engine doing many of the same flips, rolls and flying upside down.

Lastly we got to see the Osprey.
The Osprey has just gone straight up and starting to move forward.
The rotors have just started rotating to facing forward.
Here is the Osprey flying like an airplane.
Look at this sharp bank.
Now the Osprey is landing like a helicopter.  It was neat to watch.
A short while later the Osprey was parked and anyone could talk to the pilots and walk thru the plane.  You could enter into the side door you see and exit out the rear.

Shortly after this was supposed to be a dueling piano concert.  However before that could happen, a thunderstorm moved in and it was cancelled.  We made it to the car just before the rain started.  Day 2 was only a 10 hour day.  So much to see and do.
