Wow today is August 4 it has been almost 2 weeks since I posted anything. On Friday July 25 we moved to Omro WI (just 8 miles west of Oshkosh) for the annual EAA Airventure Fly-in.
For only $15/night the RV park had only electric at the sites. It did have a dump station and water station if needed. There were restrooms and showers so we did not have to move for the 10 days we were there.
We just goofed off until Monday, July 28 when the fly-in started so no other pictures.
Several others at this park were here to go the the fly-in also. Due to advice we got from a regular attendee, we got up early on Monday and were at the gates when they opened at 7am. We had a seminar we wanted to attend at 8:15 am. We got parked and headed in. We walked and walked and walked all over the facility because we did not figure out the tram routes.
Here's Tic at the main arch. As we walked around waiting for he seminar to start we saw all kinds of planes displayed for sale.
Including little jets!
This is only one of several kinds of float planes.
This plane is advertised as having a diesel engine. We asked and jet fuel A is used.
The plane in the forefront is called a long ez. It is an experimental aircraft built by an individual and flown here to attend the fly-in. All the planes in the picture were flown here by people attending the fly-in.
Look at this float plane. It is considered an light sport plane. You sit side-by-side out in the open. Can you tell the stearing column has a boat wheel on it? See the closeup below.
Someone had a good time making this plane!
This futuristic looking plane is for sale. It was a float plane that had a chair that could be put up so you could fish. Crazy!
This is a large bush plane.
This is a tiny bi-plane used for aerial acrobatics.
This plane was actually used by the National Park Service. We attended a couple of seminars and ate our lunch then watched the afternoon air show.
This is one of several groups that flew in formation doing aerial maneuvers.
Here is a larger group of planes.
This is a little bi-plane doing a lot of flips and spirals on it way high in the sky. I was hoping that the smoke would let you see some of the moves it made.
It is hard to tell, but this plane was coming straight down at a very high speed. This pilot was really talented and did lots of amazing things with his plane.
This is a different larger bi-plane heading up.
Here is a closer look as it flew low above the air strip. Because this plane was a little larger the engine was
larger and it was really loud. Also all the planes on the grass are more planes flown in by attendees.
Here is another group that did many aerial maneuvers in formation. Amazing!
Look how close together they stayed as they did their maneuvers. I was impressed!
There was lots more to the air show I just did not put it all in. After the air show we stayed to see Kenny Loggins perform. We finally left about 7pm after 12 full hours that day. We were tired!
