EAA Airventure Day 4

Friday, August 1

Well, we missed Thursday at EAA.  I felt miserable and we stayed home to help me get better. Tic is so thoughtful!  I really appreciate him sacrificing a day at EAA to take care of me.  One day off did a lot for me.

We arrived about 8:30am again on Friday making it our Day 4.  As soon we got out of the car we saw this powered parasail.  Pretty.

We attended a couple of early seminars then had our picnic lunch.  Then we headed to the EAA Museum.
Big building loaded with planes.
This picture and the 3 below show how many planes were in each section of the building.  I think many of you are tired of all the airplanes so I'm going to keep it a bit shorter with this post.
OK enough of that.
You may have been reading lately about people developing flying cars.  Well here is one from the past that did not go over very well.  It actually flew but had to haul/drag the wings behind it as it drove down the street.
This is a BD5 micro.  It was developed by Jim Bede in late 1960's.  It was sold as a kit. Some BDs are still flying.   And still other BDs have been converted into jets.
This STITS called a Baby Bird was developed to have the short wings and still fly.  It did fly and qualified for Guinness Book of Records.
This turned out a little fuzzy.  Too bad because it explains the history of the plane.

Next we headed to the afternoon air show.  I am not posting any pictures of planes other than the Thunderbirds.  They were FAST.
Tic got some great pictures.
There were 6 total jets.  The above 4 jets flew in formation, while the other 2 did separate maneuvers.
In just seconds, these 2 jets crossed each other and they both flew back in front of us in the opposite direction.
Tic did get this one close-up.  They were amazing.  It was fun to get to see them.  We headed home as soon as they were finished.  That was about 6pm.  Next we pack up and head for Wisconsin Dells.
