Benson, AZ

Friday, December 5

Today we moved from Willcox, AZ to Benson, AZ all of 37 miles.  We arrived at our new location about 11 am.
We have a nice wide spot.  All sites and roads are hard gravel and fairly level with full hook ups.  After setting up and having lunch we drove through town.
In town we saw a long wall that was fully painted with several murals.  Even the space between the murals was painted.  This person was very talented!  Below are 4 more pictures of the wall.

Across the street from the above wall was the train station.

The parking lot at the train station had different train line symbols at each space.
Here are the last three spots in the train station parking lot.  After this we decided to go see the Kartchner Caverns.

Since we are planning to stay in Arizona for a few months we decided to buy an annual AZ State Pass.
There were lots of barrel cactus.  This one was in bloom.
This painting was fascinating to me.  There are not any lights shining on the painting, it is the way it is painted.  Cameras were not permitted in the cave so we did not go into the caverns.
Bones from this creature were found in this cavern.
Next we headed to Tombstone.  See separate blog post for the pictures from Tombstone.

While we were driving back from Tombstone, we saw another RV park called Arizona Legends RV Resort.  So we drove in and investigated.  It turns out it was a place to buy a lot to park your RV.  Some of the lots had fantastic views. We met a really nice couple who gave us a great tour of the facilities.  There is already a great club house, swimming pool and hot tub. It was a nice place if you want a home base.  We are not quite there yet.  It was sunset as we were leaving.
This is the mountain view from the lots with great views.  Isn't this sunset awesome?!
We turned around just a few minutes later and this is what we saw. Gorgeous!!
We headed home.  We did notice that as the sun went down the temperatures dropped quickly.
