Bisbee and Sierra Vista, AZ

Sunday, December 7

After we left the Chiricahua National Monument, we headed South to Bisbee, AZ.  It is a mining town.  We were not expecting much.  To our surprise, it was very interesting.
Heading south there were many vast grass fields.  It surprised us how many grass fields there were.

As we drove into Bisbee, did not see much impressive until we rounded a corner and whammo we saw this huge pit.
Tic took this picture through a fence so the grass is close.  The black spot is actually water.  This is really deep.
Here is another picture with some buildings at the top to give some perspective.  Below are pictures of informational signs around the viewing area.

Then we came upon the main part of Old Town.
The picture above and the 3 following are all taken from a little overlook we came upon.

Looks like a cute little town.  Too bad we did not have time to walk the streets.  We drove on to Sierra Vista (only 27 miles away) where we planned to get gas and have dinner.

Shortly after leaving Bisbee headed to Sierra Vista to our surprise, we came to this tunnel. Cool!
This is the view as we came out of the tunnel.  By the shadows you can tell it is getting late in the afternoon.
This was another impressive rock wall we saw on the way to Sierra Vista.

The closer we got to Sierra Vista we kept seeing something in the air.  It appeared to be tethered.  We finally got close enough to see what it was.  We thought it might be a weather balloon??? We really have no idea.

We decided to eat at this Mexican food restaurant.
This is the inside from the front door.  We had fantastic service and the food was great!  We forgot to take pictures of our meals.  Tic had a steak and I had grilled chicken breast with a creamy cilantro sauce over it.  Both were delicious.
Tic ate the rice and beans that came with Dusty's dinner.  So Dusty decided she would have a chimichanga stuffed with strawberries for dessert.  It was good also.  It is dark outside now so we are homeward bound.
