KOFA KO-OP Escapees Campground, Yuma, AZ

Saturday, Jan 10, 2015

Today we moved from Tucson to Yuma.  It was about a 3.5 to 4 hour drive.
Everywhere we looked in Tucson were saguaro cactus.  That changed on the way to Yuma.

Just before we turned west at Phoenix we saw Picacho Peak.  There is an AZ state park there.  We did not want to take the coach there, so this is the only picture we got.

As we drove along, the saguaro cactus got fewer but we still saw plenty.

Suddenly we saw this.  It was several acres.  We think these were a new kind of solar panels.  See that they are curved and facing up.  Unique!

The closer to Yuma we got there was more and more sand and no saguaro cactus.  Pretty desolate.

The sandy desert appears to go right up to the mountains.  We went through the mountain pass  and the other side opened up to the valley of Yuma.   Before I thought about getting a picture of the valley, we were down the hill.

We arrived at the KOFA KO-OP Escapees Campground and finalized setting up by about 3:30pm
The spaces are nice and wide with mostly level gravel parking area and concrete pads to step out on.  If you have a table you could set it up on the concrete pad.  Several short term people set up their chairs and sat outside.  The temperature is low 70's.  Beautiful!
