Baldknobbers Show in Branson, MO

Thursday, June 2, 2016

It is raining again today just as it has almost everyday.  The last day it did not rain during the day was on May 22.  It has been a wet stay.

There is a mall in town that has a stage in the center with chairs and tables to sit and watch free performances. It is called the Silver Knight Stage.  None of the top names perform there, but we decided to check it out anyway.

We saw...............
Jeff Hunt.  We thought it was good.  To our surprise he only sings on this stage.  He did tell us that he is a single father of 4 with 2 still at home.

Jackson Cash.  No relation to Johnny Cash but he did sound a lot like him in both his talking voice and his singing.

And Radney Pennington, also known as "Little E".  He is a fantastic Elvis impersonator. Radney is currently 15 years old.  He has been performing since he was 3 years old.  His stage presence shows his experience.

All the performers on this stage work for tips only.  By the time we left the rain had stopped for a little bit.

After dinner this evening we are going to see the Baldknobbers Show.
The Baldknobbers, Mabe family, have been performing in Branson since 1959.  Today 2nd & 3rd generations carry on the family tradition
They opened the curtains with the stage "smokey".  It stayed that way the whole performance.  That made it difficult for Tic to get good pictures.
This is Brandon Mabe (left) and "Droopy Drawers, Jr" Tim Mabe (right).  Tim is Jr because his father was the first "Droopy Drawers".

Several of the people in the band played multiple instruments.  This is Pete (I think) and he also played the piano beautifully!

Mike Ito has been with the band for 37 years.  He was fantastic on the fiddle!  He also played the banjo.

Dutton is new to the band.  He also sang.

This is Megan Mabe.  She is Brandon's wife.  She sings beautifully!

It was a first rate show!  We were glad we went.
All of us leave in the morning, so home we went.
