Finnish Breakfast

Thursday, July 3

Today is going to be a day at home.  We decided to walk to downtown Houghton and have a Finnish breakfast.  The Suomi restaurant came highly recommended.
We forgot to get a picture of the restaurant so this is from the internet.  Obviously it is snowy in this picture.  It is NOT snowy now here Houghton.
This was breakfast.  It is a custard "pancake" (served with warm raspberry jam) called Pannukakku.  We also had Nisu cinnamon toast with our pancake. Nisu is a Finnish bread.  It tasted very much like regular cinnamon toast.  Everything was delicious.

After walking back home, we decided today would be a day at home.  It is nice to be able to just enjoy your surroundings.  We sat outside, took a nap and did laundry.  What a rough life we lead.

There weren't as many clouds tonight so the sunset was not as spectacular.
This cloud was in the eastern ski.  There was hardly any breeze and the river was very calm.
This is a reflection of the cloud in the photo above, on the water.
As the sun got lower, a few more clouds moved in and enhanced the sunset.  This was taken about 10pm.  We came into the house about 11:30pm and it was still not pitch dark yet.  It was a wonderfully enjoyable day.
