Kerville, TX Day 2

Thursday, November 20

We slept in late today.  We did not get out of bed until 8am.  Then we had a leisurely breakfast.  One of our day/night shades in the coach broke last night.  We are going to have to restring it with new cord.  We looked online for a local source.  We found a drapery store so went there to see if they could sell us the cord.  We were able to get the cord we needed.  We got enough to be able to fix more shades for the future.

After we got back home and had lunch we spent about 2 hours and got the shade restrung.  Next Tic got it rehung in the coach.  It works well.  I'm proud of us.  The man at the drapery store said he charged $65 to restring one shade. We did good!

Next we went to the Visitor's Center where we took a nature walk on the Tranquility Island in the middle of the Guadalupe River.
This is the sign on the River Trail.
This is the view from one of the walking bridges across part of the river to the island.
There is a large paved walkway the full length of the island.
This tree root sort of looks like a creature about the enter the water.
The bald cypress trees were changing colors.

That is me a little ahead of Tic.  It was a very peaceful and beautiful walk.
This little squirrel actually came down the tree towards us and sat up and begged.  Tic got a good picture.  We saw several squirrels and they did not seem to be afraid of people.
This is a pretty shot Tic took looking up the trees about where we saw the squirrel.
We saw groups of ducks and groups of geese.
Here are some of the ducks.  All the creatures were begging for food.
This is at the end of the island.  The bridge in the back right is a major road in town that crosses the river.
This is a closeup of the same little island and bridge  as in the picture above this one.
Tic took this picture from the middle of a walking bridge that crossed back at the far end of the island.
This picture is from one of the major road  bridges in town.  Tic got out of the car and walked to the middle of the bridge.  This is the Guadalupe River.

It was about 4:30PM when we left here and headed to the Western Art Museum.
We were too late to go into the museum so took pictures of the sculptures outside.
This one is a little strange.

This is called Wind and Rain.
These were all the outdoor sculptures.  Each sculpture was very detailed.  Amazing.
