Florence, AZ Part 2

Friday, March 20, 2015 continued

The next stop was a very informative museum.  There was so much to see.  I am limiting the pictures to about 1/3rd of the ones taken.
This museum also had a memorial to Tom Mix out front.
See the old ice wagon.  Doesn't really look like the ice would stay solid for long.
This large piece of petrified wood was also on the front porch of the museum.
In the foreground are old church pews. The enclosed glass cases contain memorabilia on Tom Mix.
This area was an example of items in a trading post.  The local Indians would trade their baskets and pottery for food.
Here is more Indian crafts.  The furniture if actually made from cactus.
Whoops this picture blurred a little but I wanted to show he furniture made from mostly from saguaro cactus.
That is a special carriage in the background.  See the foot warmer on the floor inside.  Also there was a speaking tube going from inside to the driver outside the carriage.
Look at this dental chair and foot peddle operated dental drill.  The dentist better have a fast foot!
Neat old phone switchboard.
Look closely at this typewriter.  It has separate keys for upper case and lower case.  There is no shift key.
Look at this concert roller organ.
Here is one of the first phonographs.  See the megaphone on the floor next to it?
These are actually some $10 bills produced by the Florence bank .  They have little value today.
This is a display of the hanging nooses complete with pictures of the person that was hung with that rope.  I was surprised they used each rope only one time.  Budget cuts had not hit the rope supply yet!
Look at this huge cast iron pot.  The note below is in the bottom of this cast iron pot.

This is a homesteader cabin from 1928.  It was moved to the museum site.
As you could tell the cabin was a one room house.  This is one corner.
This is the kitchen corner.
This is the bedroom corner.
This is an old cotton picker machine.
This picture is only some of the old farm equipment on display outside.
Look at this old horse drawn road grader.
This is most of us leaving this very interesting museum.

Next we are planning to drive a 32 mile dirt road going from Florence to Kelvin.  Those pictures will be Part 3.
