Today we moved from Le Page Park near Rufus, OR to River Rim RV Park near Terrebonne, OR. The area we passed through had high rolling prairies. This part of Oregon is called the high desert. Our RV park is along the Crooked River Gorge.
Here is our parking site. This is a small park with only 25 parking sites and 10 pull-thrus. We have one of the pull-thrus.
We have all services here, so are happy to be back in communication again.
This is the ridge we see as we look out our front window.
As I looked over the edge, I can see the Crooked River. Wow, it is quite a ways down to the river.
After we had dinner, we decided to take a drive. We saw a spot along the road on the way to the RV park that had an overlook. We decided to drive there.
This is the view from the overlook we saw. This is the Crooked River Ranch Golf Course. In the distance you can see they also have cabins you can rent. You cannot see their RV park from here, but they have one also.
This is more of the golf course from the same overlook.
Next we thought we would drive to another park we passed on the way to the RV park. We drove across this large bridge that crossed the Crooked River Canyon.
The reddish colored bridge in the back is the current traffic bridge. The light colored bridge in the foreground is the original bridge that crosses the gorge. It was built in 1926 and is now a foot bridge and does not connect to any road.
From the foot bridge, looking down stream (westward), you can see this train trestle. Isn't this a gorgeous picture! The bridge is called the Oregon Trunk Railroad Bridge.
This is an informative sign about the construction of this bridge in 1911.
We walked just past the railroad bridge and waited for sunset.
Below are 3 pictures of the sunset.
Obviously, this one is looking towards the setting sun.
At the same time and same spot, this is looking away from the sun.
Just a few minutes later the sky is very pink!! Gorgeous!!!
It is almost dark so we decided we better head home.
