Munising MI and Pictured Rocks

Sunday, August 21, 2016

Wow it rained all day yesterday, Saturday.  Usually not hard but almost all day, maybe not for about 1 hour scattered throughout the day.  This morning was beautifully sunny and about 65 degrees F.  We took a walk around the RV park.

We got some more pictures of our site (above & below) with the sun shining.

There is a small pond here with rainbow trout.  They have food you can feed them.  The splashing are the trout swarming for the food.
Here's a short video of the fish Dusty is feeding.

After being inside the coach all day yesterday, we were ready for an excursion.  So this morning we decided to drive to Munising after lunch. Munising is about an hour north of us. We hoped to be able to take the Pictured Rocks sunset boat tour that leaves out of Munising.
Sad to say the winds were still too high causing rough water so all tours for today had been cancelled.
We decided we could hike to a few of the waterfalls anyway.

This is a short video of Wagner Falls.  It was beautiful!

We are getting better a getting selfies at some of the beautiful places we visit.

This is a short video of Munising Falls, which was in town also.

Next we went to see Miners Waterfall.  It was a beautiful 1.2 mile round-trip hike.

For some reason we did not get a video of Miners Waterfall.  The waterfall looked extremely forceful.  The mist was spraying us even as far away as we were.

A short distance down the road was Miners Castle Rock formation which is on Lake Superior and part of the Pictured Rocks National Park.
From the upper viewpoint this is what we saw.  Awesome!

Then we walked down to the lower viewpoint.
This is Miners Castle from just above it.  The following 3 pictures are of the waves crashing along the Pictured Rock walls. It has gotten overcast so the colors are not as vivid as if the sun was shining.

While this video focused on the close by tree limbs, you can see in the background how strong the waves are right now.

Next we drove to Little Beaver Lake with the hopes for a short hike to Lake Superior for more Pictured Rock pictures.  This is Little Beaver Lake.  OK nothing impressive.  Sadly the hike to Lake Superior looked like it was about 3 miles round-trip.  It was overcast, threatening rain and 5:15pm by now.

We were getting hungry for dinner and didn't want to get rained on so decided to forgo the hike.  We headed back into Munising to eat at DogPatch Restaurant.

Cute menu.  Below shows part of the menu.
We both ordered the ARI SARRI.  Tic got it with beef 'n lamb and I got it with chicken.  We both thought each of ours was very tasty!

We still had an hour drive home so headed that way.  It was a great afternoon!
