St. Ignace, MI

Monday, August 15, 2016

Today we move to St. Ignace, MI barely in the upper peninsula of MI.
Above is our first view of the Mackinaw Bridge.  Below is as we are crossing the Mackinaw Bridge.

Tiki RV Park is a discount park in the Escapees network.  They give Escapees a 50% discount for up to 4 days.  However you must pay in cash - no checks or credit cards.

This is our site.  We are on a hill in a fairly level drive-in site.

This is our view out our living room windows.  That is Lake Huron.

After getting settled and having lunch, we decided to take a drive.
We found the Bridge View Park.

There were beautiful flowers lining all the walkways.

This bell is from the South Tower. It was used during foggy times until March 1961 when a lighthouse was opened.

We were hoping to find a spot where we could view all the Mackinaw Bridge.  This is most of the bridge.  We could not get all of it without it being so tiny you could hardly see it.  According to Wikipedia the bridge is 4.99 miles long

We next headed to Main Street in St. Ignace which runs right along the edge of Lake Huron.  We stopped to walk a little and get a picture of this lighthouse.

As we were standing there, we saw this Hydro-jet ferry headed to Mackinac Island.

Headed home to fix dinner and get ready for a day on Mackinac Island tomorrow.
