We started our day with a short walk to the water's edge of Lake Michigan just across the street from our RV park.
There was a walkway all the way to the beach area. The beaches here are much like being on the ocean. Lake Michigan is so immense it is hard for me to think of it as a lake and not the ocean.
There are lots of sail boats to watch.
The water is clear. See the color change as the depth changes.
Next we headed to go on a Jeep tour of the sand dunes. Parrot's Landing rents the Jeep to you and you drive. Tic has done sand dune driving in New Mexico. I never have so today was my turn. This is the Jeep I would be driving.
This was the path to the sand dunes. Tic is in the passenger seat taking photos over the top of the windshield, so they are not the best, but will give you an idea of our ride.
Here we are headed towards some wet sand where people like to race. We will not be doing that.
Here I'm the last to go down this big hill then up a small hill and line up with the others.
We all stopped and took a small break to get pictures and chat with each other.
We had someone take our picture. Can you tell by the grin that I was having a blast?
Here is a larger wet sand area where others were racing and still others were just watching.
Here's what the "rainbow" looked like after we each had a turn.
Next we headed to Lake Pentwater just a short distance north of us. There a lots of inland lakes just in from Lake Michigan.
Here's the Pentwater marina and water tower which you will see again later.
Father and son fishing on Lake Pentwater not far from the marina in town.
The marina is in downtown proper. Pentwater is a quaint little town.
This is a huge house with a store front. Everything we saw was well kept in this town. See the water tower again?
Pentwater city park.
We ate hamburgers at The Brown Bear for lunch. It was recommended by a local and we were not disappointed.
We drove up the road to Ludington MI to see the vehicle ferry you can catch to go to the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan. Ludington is about half way up the west side of Michigan. The ferry ride is about 4 hours long and it goes straight to the Wisconsin side of the lake.
When we got home in the late afternoon, this dragon fly flew in when Tic came in. Tic was able to get this magnificent picture. Then when Tic opened the door, it just flew out. God is so good.
To finish out our day, we walked over to the Timberlake RV Resort beach shoreline to watch the sunset. Tic got more sensational pictures!
What a wonderful way to end a wonderful day!!
