New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo, NM

Thursday, June 14, 2018

Today we went to BZ Rocking Burgers in Alamogordo, NM.  It came highly recommended.

You build your own burger by choosing what you want on it. There are also a few other items available. We both got 1/2 lb burgers with mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and green chilies.
WOW look at the size of this burger.  It was delicious! We will probably go back, but both decided on 1/4 lb burgers next time.

After lunch we went to the New Mexico Museum of Space History.
Above and below are the views from this museum.

This is a Thor Engine.  Tic says he'd like to figure out how to put this in the coach. Boy, we could go anywhere! No mountain would be too steep.

This is a boilerplate of the Apollo Command Module.

 Several rockets and radio antenna.

This is an X-7A served as a test vehicle to develop a rampjet engine for anti-aircraft missiles.

More rockets etc on display. I couldn't get to them because of steps. Tic took this picture.

This spent V2 rocket engine was in a long-range guided ballistic missile used near the end of WWII by the Germans. After the war, the Germans helped the US develop these engines to be used in the space program.

This was actually on display, but you could not see inside so I decided to post the information picture instead.

This is a F1 rocket engine used to power the 1st stage of Saturn V.

This is a H1 rocket engine used in testing the Saturn 1 & 1B.

Tic simulated a landing of the Columbia Space Shuttle without any incident!  WOW what a pilot! Good job!

Tic is about to be beamed up to the Enterprise spaceship.

Tic even got to operate the space seat used while working on the outside of the shuttle.

Dusty even got to walk on the moon.

We enjoyed our visit.  It is harder to find things I can to in a wheelchair. I'm glad to be out at least.  It gets old sitting with my foot up.
