Butler Speedway

Saturday, June 21

While driving around the area near Homer, MI we passed Butler Speedway.  It is a dirt track that had several kinds of cars racing on Saturday.  We decided to go.  Tic got a few pictures before the camera batteries suddenly died.  The following pictures are all modified cars.
When we arrived they were having heat runs.  When we asked, that meant they did about 3 laps just to check the car out.  There were crashes in every heat.  Here is one.  No one was hurt.
We were told to watch this car.  It was supposed to be one of the faster ones.
I noticed on this car 11 that it orange cancer ribbon said "Driving for Kirk".  Kirk is Tic's Dad's name.  Kirk died of cancer many years back.  It touched us.

The camera batteries died just after this shot.  We also got to watch sprint cars and mini-sprint cars.  The sprint cars go really fast on this dirt.  We sat 5 rows from the top and still got dirt thrown on us as the cars rounded the track.  Tic did get the following video on his I-Phone.

It started to sprinkle about 9:30pm and we did not want to get caught in the rain so headed home.  It was a fun time.
