Saturday we decided to drive to Calumet where the city was having "Pasty Fest". We were not impressed with the festival. We did try another pasty and again disappointed. That will be our last one. So when we left Calumet we drove a different way home. You realize home is where we are parked, don't you?
We walked out on a small dock and saw this lighthouse. This lighthouse is at McClain State Park. We've noticed all the lighthouses on Lake Superior are much shorter than the lighthouses we saw in North Carolina on the Atlantic Ocean. Not sure why.
This is another view from the same dock.
The building was one of several restroom facilities throughout the park. The grounds were beautiful. It got pretty warm here today. The temperature got up to 87. That's better than the 95+ degree weather back home.
We found a spot where we could walk out to the shore. The rocks were smooth but hard on a tender foot.
Tic cracked up laughing and could not resist this picture. I decided I was going to feel the water and NOT get my feet wet. The water was COLD. Per the news station the water temperature was 47.
While we were checking the water temperature we saw the ferry from Isle Royale returning to Houghton.
We saw a couple of ladies in kayaks. They are going to be exhausted tonight.
We decided to get down the road quickly so we could get more pictures of the ferry returning.
Finally it rounded the bend. Now we hurried to cross the bridge before it had to be lifted.
We made it across the bridge. Tic decided to walk onto the bridge's walking path and get pictures as the boat comes in. While waiting Tic saw this all wooden sailboat being loaded onto a trailer.
Here is the boat coming.
Here is the bridge lifting as Tic is standing there.
Here the boat is about to go under the bridge. We headed home after this. Tic had some things he wanted to work on. It was another gorgeous evening. We sat outside watching the river activity till nearly 9:30pm. It was still light outside but the flies were biting so we went in.
