Homer, MI

June 17-22, 2014

The drive from Wapakoneta, OH to Homer, WI was pleasant.  We were expecting rain but it didn't arrive.  We have been blessed with the weather for most of our travels.  It was a beautiful drive.
Here we are crossing the boarder into Michigan.  When we cross into a new state the first thing we like to do is stop at the first visitor's center and get a map of the state.

Look what we got to watch.  The police were searching this car at the rest stop where the visitor's center was.  They were still there when we pulled out.

The campground was only about 1.5 hours from the OH-MI border.  This is a huge place.  Most sites have permanent setups.  Scattered throughout the campground are sites that are labeled CC.  We are parked on grass and it is supposed to start raining.
Here is the symbolic lighthouse for the campground.

Here is our site.  Below is another picture of our site.

See the trailers around us.  They are all set up to stay very long term.

Most places have golf carts.  There are not many people actually here.  Apparently, the membership here gets you a specific lot.  There are lots of sites for sale.  We have not met any other travelers and the only people that speak to us are the ones working here.

This is one of several play areas in the campground.  There are lots of activities to do.

There are horseshoe pits, miniature golf, tennis courts and swimming pool.

Nice looking pool.  It is overcast and a little breezy so a bit cool to be swimming.

This is the office and clubhouse.  Upstairs there are pool tables, ping pong and television.

There are pretty flower beds around.  This one is near a bathouse.

These roses were the prettiest lilac colored roses.

There are several ponds here also and every pond has several groups of Canadian geese and their babies.  All the babies here are a bit older.

Here are two more groups.  You can see the babies are older.

This is the beach created on the 25 acres pond/lake here.

This is a small picnic area we came upon while walking around the park.
While we were driving around the country side we saw this empress tree in full bloom.
We were driving thru the country and saw signs to watch for horse drawn vehicles.  These were some horses in a pasture.  These are the kind the Amish use for work horses. Pretty.
Well it has rained for the 3 days we have been here so far and is supposed to rain more.  Our coach leveling jacks are sinking into the ground even with several wooden blocks under them.  It should be fun getting out of here on Sunday.  We have been enjoying just being and doing little fixups. Living in a coach is just like living in a permanent house.  Something is always needing fixing.
