Table Rock Lake, Branson, MO

Monday, May 22, 2016

We decided to take a drive around Table Rock Lake and back to Branson so we could see the area.  It is a beautiful sunny day and great day for a drive.

This is US Hwy 65 as we are headed to MO 13.  Many of the roads around Branson are cut through this solid rock.
Most of Missouri is underlain by carbonate rocks-limestones and dolomites-that formed from sediments on the bottoms of ancient seas. This is the thick, layered rock we see along road cuts and river bluffs.  Chert is a hard, fine-grained rock made up mostly of the mineral silica and is evidently, the State Rock of Missouri.  My apologizes to the Show-Me-State if I don't have this 100% correct.

Not far down MO 13 we came to the first bridge crossing Table Rock Lake.  They have one lane closed and we had to wait in line for a short time.

We found this overlook of Table Rock Lake.  This is not the whole lake as the lake is extremely long.  It is a beautiful lake!!

This is another bridge crossing the lake.  We were able to find this high point to get this picture.

After leaving the lake, I wanted to drive through Branson on the main street, MO 76.

I panicked when  I saw King Kong attacking Branson.  Ha Ha!  For a Sunday afternoon the road was not "stop and go" as we had been warned it would be.

We ended up back at Table Rock Lake.  On the opposite side of the lake you can see a huge resort.  There a lots of resorts along the lake.

I'm heading to the water's edge.  It is a really rocky shoreline.

You can see the rocky shoreline.  Also in the left side of the picture you can see a dam and the road goes across the top of the dam.

We have seen a lot of beauty around this lake.  We are feeling very blessed!!
