Garvan Wooland Gardens near Hot Springs, AR - Part 1

Thursday, October 21, 2016

We had planned to go to Garvan Gardens this morning, but it is raining.  We looked at the weather forecast and are hoping that the rain stops by lunch and we can still go.

Hoorah! The rain stopped and it's noon!! It is supposed to start clearing now. The gardens are about 40 mins away so off we go.
As you can tell, it is sunny once we arrive!

This beautiful mum bed was just outside one side of the entrance.

This is the main entrance with pumpkins on the other side.

This wire peacock with pumpkins for its tail is creative.

This is an example of the peacocks roaming around .

There were lots of azaleas blooming. So pretty! There was so much beauty.  I'm putting in my favorite pictures.

There were lots of small waterfalls throughout the park.  This is the first one we saw.

Most of the rocks around were smooth, but this one looked wrinkled to me.  Hee Hee

This is called the Sunshine Bridge.

Another waterfall.

Bridge of the Full Moon.

The park was preparing for their Holiday Lights event starting in 3 weeks and running through December.  They have put blue lights in some of the trees in this area.

This is a coi pond.  The pictures of the fish did not turn out.

Another waterfall to the coi pond.
This waterfall is like a spillway at the end of the coi pond.

Next we came across an area with light ropes everywhere.  Looks like they created a pond with a frog on a lilly pad. You can see some flowers, cattails & a flying bug.  Below are butterflies.  Might be pretty with the lights lit.

This was the entrance to lighted path through the forest.

About half way through the path was this light tunnel.

We finally got out of the area where they were putting out lights.  This was called the Wildflower Meadow Overlook.  Not many wildflowers blooming at this time, but it was a beautiful view.

Another trail took us out to Lake Hamilton.

I found these burls/holes in this pine tree intriguing.

These waterfalls are part of Singing Springs Gorge with Millsap Canopy Bridge.

For Halloween they set up this Depot and the train below.

I believe this is more of Singing Springs Gorge.

The park even put reindeer above each parking area.

Now see Parts 2 and 3 for more areas in Garvan Woodlands Gardens.
