Today we moved from Soldotna to Homer. We are enjoying this sunny morning after 3 days of rain.
As we were about half way to Homer we stopped at an overlook. I took both the above and below pictures. Later I learned these are 2 of 5 volcanoes in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Above is Mount Redoubt Volcano and below is Mount Illiamna Volcano.
Yea, we made it to Homer, AK. Actually this sign is on the hill just above Homer and the Homer Spit at an overlook. No matter, I'm expecting to have some great halibut!
This picture is taken from that overlook looking back at our campground. We are so blessed to be in such grandeur.
This glacier is just across Cook Inlet from the overlook.
This wild flower was on the other side of the fence. We later learned it is called a Mountain Bluet.
While we were still at the overlook, this young bald eagle flew over several times. Tic got this great picture.
From the overlook we could see the Homer Spit. The Homer Spit is a geographical landmark located in Homer, Alaska on the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula. The spit is a 4.5-mile long piece of land jutting out into Kachemak Bay.
We drove to the end of the Spit. Both above and below are pictures from the end of the Spit.
This glacier is across the bay from the end of the Spit. Stunning views!
We decided to eat dinner at a restaurant called Fresh Catch. It had a lot of good reviews.
I ordered crab risotto with 4 oz halibut on top. It was delicious!!!
Tic ordered seafood fettuccine. I think he had more seafood than I did. He had 2 big pieces of salmon, 2 big pieces of halibut, 4 jumbo shrimp and 2 very large scallops. He said it was exceptionally delicious! Then, ... we shared a rhubarb crisp topped with ice cream. Decadent!
We went home stuffed. I sat out and searched for whales. I was blessed and got to see a few. They were very far away and I couldn't get a picture. I could tell they were whales though. It was fun! Great way to end a beautiful day!
