Siskiyou Lake, CA Day 2

Wednesday, May 27, 2015

We slept in.  Then I fixed an omelet for breakfast.  After messing around a little longer we decided to drive to the dam and the other side of the lake.

This is Mt. Shasta about 11 am this morning.  Dark cloulds cover the top.
We are on the right side of the dam.  The line in the water is the barrier telling boats not to come any closer.  Mt. Shasta is not viewable from this spot.

This is the water rushing out from the other side of the dam.
It is very difficult to get a good picture of the canyon from the bridge because they have a tight weave chain link fence.  The white on the both sides of the picture is a gap in the concrete sidewalk wall.

As we got to the end of the bridge there was even tall fencing a long ways down which hampered getting a good picture of the canyon.

Just past the bridge we found an actual pullout to view the lake.  We saw these houses on the hillside across the lake from where we were standing.
Tic zoomed in on the log cabin.  It sure looks fancy!  Bet they have a great view.

Next we headed to North Shore Lane.  The road followed along the Wagon Creek.
We stopped in one place and this was the view down stream.
From the same spot, this is looking up stream.  It was so dazzling and relaxing.

On down the road we saw this walking bridge.  We found the head of the trail leading to this bridge and walked back to it.  Tic climbed up to the road and took this picture.

From the bridge looking back towards where Wagon Creeks empties into Lake Siskiyou.  The water looks green because it is reflecting the trees.  I believe that is the smallest island I've seen.  Isn't this tranquil looking!?!

This is looking the other way from the same point on the bridge.  Here the water looks so blue.  The sky is being reflected on this side.

We crossed the bridge and right there were these pretty little flowers.  Tic took this picture without me even asking.  He knows I like the flowers.  He is so sweet!

This is the bridge from the opposite side we approached it on.  Pretty bridge.

This is the trail we took to the bridge.  Now you can see why I said we walked to the bridge as opposed to hiking to the bridge.

By the time we got back home about 2:30pm, the clouds over Mt. Shasta were dark.  We were beginning to wonder if we would get a picture of Mt. Shasta without clouds.

Yippie!  By about 5:30pm the skies had cleared and we got this picture of Mt. Shasta.  Stunning!

We leave tomorrow for Oregon.  This has been a wonderfully relaxing couple of days.

I thought I was through and ready to post, then Tic jumped up and took the camera out.  There were deer!
This is the best picture.  Tic says they went down to the water for a drink and are now wandering through the park.  Fun!
