Today we left Standish, CA and headed to Mount Shasta City, CA.
It was a beautiful drive through large pine trees most of the way. We did drive through Hat Creek Valley which you saw in the post titled Lassen Volcanic National Park.
This is out first view of Mount Shasta. Notice the clouds are low and not on the top of the mountain. Keep that in mind.
Here is our final site. They had originally picked a different site. After checking it out in the Jeep, we asked for a different site because we wanted 50 amp. They decided to give us this site which is actually a handicap site. We confirmed that we would not be taking it from anyone that needed it. It is a very nice large concrete pad with concrete patio and picnic table and full hookups.
Our parking pad is the only RV site in a loop of little cabins like this one next door to us. There is no one in any of the cabins, so we have this area to ourselves. We are only staying 2 nights.
We have had lunch and it is beautiful so we decided to walk around the lake. This is Mount Shasta again from the edge of the lake just the other side of a cabin close to us. We are so blessed to be able to enjoy so much of God's glory.
From the marina area we could see the dam. We learned this was the Lake Siskiyou Power Project starting operation May 1986.
OMG, the top of Mount Shasta was mostly clear. This is the clearest picture we've been able to get.
There were several of these birds flying over the water. Tic got a good picture of this one.
Finally got one sitting on the water. As you can tell, it is a seagull. Interesting they are this far inland.
We took a different route home. We passed this huge tree stump. We are looking at the bottom. It has so much character I had to have a picture. There are 2 fairly large rocks embedded in the roots. Can you find them?
Once we got back, the sun was no longer on the windshield so it was time to wash the bugs off the front of the coach. Gosh it has been a gorgeous day! We will explore more tomorrow.
