Wow, one more museum for today. We are headed to the Natural History Museum.
It was quite a magnificent building.
This large pendulum was just inside the front doors.
We were told it would take the pendulum a full 24 hours to knock all the little would pieces over. Interesting.
This was an interesting display talking about all the places that get water from the Colorado River.
We saw several dinosaur skeletons. Above and below are just 3 of them.
The Natural History Museum is a 4 story building. We are on the 4th story look down to the 1st floor.
This huge piece of jade was on display. I stood next to it to give perspective as to its size.
This dinosaur showed the skelton on one side and the normal skin on the other. Interesting.
This is the skull of a grey whale. There lots of activities for children and this was one of those areas.
Very life like.
As we walked back to the center of the park, we passed this intricate art work on the side of a building.
This was the front of the building that housed the Visitors Center, a restaurant, general public restrooms and a play theater.
We are looking down a beautiful drive at the Spreckles Organ Pavilion.
John D. and Adolph Spreckels donated the Spreckels Organ, one of the
world's largest outdoor pipe organs, to the City of San Diego in 1914
for the Panama-California Exposition. This unique organ contains 4,725
pipes ranging in length from the size of a pencil to 32 feet and is
housed in an ornate vaulted structure with highly embellished gables.
Since 1917, San Diego has had a civic organist, who performs free weekly
Sunday concerts. Watch the live video stream of the Spreckels weekly
concerts on Sundays 2pm Pacific. We did not make it to a concert.
By the end of the day I had over 20,000 steps. We were both very tired.
