La Jolla Cove, La Jolla, CA and sunset on Pacific Beach

Wednesday, March 16, 2016 - continued

After leaving the Gliderport we headed to La Jolla Cove in La Jolla, CA.  We were surprised at what we saw!  A beautiful coast side park called Scripps Park adjoins the cove.  Seals and people mixing together!
Notice the people standing at the top of the rocks.  We will be there soon for a different viewpoint.
Yes, they are alive, just sleeping.  One woman approached a sleeping seal and touched it, I'm sure she wanted to feel the texture, but it jumped up and started barking at her.  She jumped back in a hurry.  Do not disturb!

The seals were everywhere and seemingly not bothered by us onlookers.

This one acted as if he was inviting us to come into the water to play.
The tide was coming in and the water was very turbulent around the rocks, but the seals had no problems negotiating their way.
I included this photo to show the surf bursting over some large rocks.  When the water flowed back, it revealed a seal using the power of the sea to help it on to the rocks.
It is amazing that they don't injure themselves.

This is the rock that the surf was breaking over.
Now we are at the top of the seawall where others had been standing in the first photo.
 Looking down at the cove.
Seeing how dry the top of this rock is, it must be a struggle to reach the top, but look at the privacy!
Now walking around the rim of the seawall to make our way back to the car.

One more stop at Pacific Beach before we head back to our apartment.  Sun is going down.
 Surfers are heading home!
And just as we are about to leave the beach area, we saw this man creating huge bubbles and entertaining the crowd.

And that brings us to the end of a marvelous day.
