Dexter, OR Part 1

Thursday, June 11, 2015

Today we moved from La Pine, OR to Dexter, OR.

We had to stop for road construction.  We finally got to go and as we rounded the corner, WHAM, there was a tunnel.  It looked like there had been rock slides on this side of the tunnel.
It is still fun to drive through tunnels.  Because we were following a pilot car, we decided not to honk the horn.  Hee Hee

Our drive to Dexter was only a 1.5 hr drive.  The road followed along the Willamette River.  It was beautiful.

Here is our parking spot at this park.  It site was pleanty long, but VERY narrow.  We had to get center just right in order to be able to open our slides.
Here is the other side.  The table is so close we cannot walk between the table and the slide. We have full hookups and it is only one night.
As we drove to the RV park, we saw pretty sites we wanted to drive back to and see.

We passed this covered bridge, so came back to see it.  Once we got to it, we saw it was not long in use.  We found it was restored in 1996 after the new bridge was built.

The interior structure of the bridge was intriguing. There were windows on one side of the cover and not the other.  This is the way the bridge was originally built in 1946.

The bridge crossed Dexter Lake created by Dexter Dam.

This is another dam, upriver from Dexter Dam.

This is looking the opposite direction from the dam.  Pretty lake and fairly good sized.

These flowers were growing along side the road near the bridge.  Tic is so good to get pictures of flowers for me.

Next we drove into Eugene, OR, only 20 miles, to go see a raptor sanctuary.  I'm putting that in a separate post.
