Today we moved from Lincoln City to Rockaway Beach, OR.
Our route took us inland about 4 miles from the waters edge.
It looks like we are in the mountains. The roads are windy and hilly. I could hardly believe we were only about 4 miles from the coast. Most of the 80 mile trip was this way.
This is one of the more open areas along our route. The clouds are still thick. It is supposed to clear off this afternoon.
We arrived at our park, Paradise Cove.
Here is our parking site. This RV park has two levels of parking next to the bay's water edge and a third level on the other side of Hwy 101. We read that the sites on the east side of the road were roomier. We requested the east side and it is true! This is a nice wide and deep site that is mostly level. There is a pool, hot tub and rec room on this side of the road also.
After we had lunch, we drove north to Wheeler to mail some cards. It was a really quaint little town. We took so many pictures that I'm making a separate post of Wheeler. Then we drove down to Tillamook to go to the grocery store.
On the way to Tillamook, we stopped at this wide spot in the road to take this picture. This is at high tide.
We went back another day at low tide to get more pictures.
As you can see, at low tide people like to walk out and investigate the tide pools.
The largest rock had a hole all the way through it.
Then we had to stop at a pullout. This is an estuary at Garibaldi, a little town just north of Tillamook. Beautiful.
These signs are at this estuary. Captain Robert Gray reached Tillamook Bay in August 1788. Incredible.
This is a close up view of the above picture. We read this is where the Miami River empties into Tillamook Bay.
At the north edge of Girabaldi was a sawmill operation.
There were 3 stacks of logs like the first one seen here. Lots of trees!
