A Drive through Park City and Wasatch National Forest

Friday, September 11, 2015

What better way to celebrate this country than to drive through part of its glory.

Park City was home to the winter Olympic Games in 2002.

As we drove into town we could see these 2 turquoise lines coming down a hill and wondered what they were.  As we got closer we could tell.
Here is a close-up of the ski jumps.

Here is the luge run.  The picture is taken from the highway so we could get the whole thing.

This monument was in dedication to the Pony Express which rode through this area.

On the way out of town, we saw this huge barn with little house behind it.  Lots of farming and cattle in this area.

We are headed to Guardian Pass in the Wasatch National Forest. The next several pictures are of our drive up there.

We saw so much beauty on the way to the top of Guardian Pass.

We are now on our way to Lake Blanche Trailhead.  we researched and read it is a beautiful hike.

This is what we see from the trailhead parking lot.

This is Mill B creek that runs along side the trail for a ways.

The water was really rushing and Tic got this cool picture of the rocks under the rushing water.

Rushing water over rocks in another spot also.

More and more pictures of the stream.  It is so pretty.  The next several pictures are also of the stream as we go further on the trail.

This rock looks like a wrinkled paper bag to us.

We finally turn away from the creek and head up the mountain.

This shear rock wall was due to glacier movement.
Not too much further up the trail we met some local ladies taking this hike.  They told us we still had 3 hrs to go to reach Lake Blanche.  Since it was already 3pm, we decided to turn back.  We would have to pass on this hike on this trip.
We closed out our day with a beautiful campfire!
