Yellowstone National Park - Geysers

Saturday & Sunday, September 5 & 6, 2015

There are so many more geysers than just Old Faithful. It was amazing how much thermal activity there is in Yellowstone.

Here the buffalo roam not far from the Midway Geyser Basin.

Amazing how clear the water is.  Watch it bubble up out of the ground.

We took the Firehole Lake drive through the Lower Geyser Basin. The following pictures are from that drive.
A man told us the above geyser was called White Mountain and it was just going off.  It had been 96 minutes since it last spewed.

Great Fountain Geyser.  We just missed it.
This was water flowing between some geysers.  Tic said the water temperature was warm but not hot.

Firehole Lake
On the edge of Firehole Lake is this little geyser named Young Hopeful.  It would spew this height about every 10 mins.  Tic wasn't sure he was going to get Dusty to move along.  I was very enthralled with the geysers.  I did not think they smelled too bad either.  We finally left the Firehole Lake Drive.
We made it to Old Faithful in perfect timing.  Tic & I both had time to visit the restrooms before her performance.
Sulphur Caldron taken from the car window.

The following 4 pictures are of the Norris Geyser Basin.

The following movie & 6 pictures are from Artist's Paint Pot.

The following 6 pictures are from the Mammoth Hot Springs.

This is looking back at Mammoth Hot Springs.

No buffalo in the field, but the geysers are really steaming today.  You can also tell there is no wind.

More geysers along the river.  The water was not even warm.

When I turned around from taking the prior picture, I saw this geyser erupt.

Next post will be the Wildlife and other landscape views.
