Four Corners Monument

Sunday, September 20, 2015

After watching the early church service of Northside Baptist Church Weatherford on the internet, we moved from Moab, UT to Towaoc, CO, which was only about 2 hours down the road.

Just a short distance down the road from Moab, we saw Wilson Arch.  There was a pullout and we were able to stop and get a picture.

We had some steep downhills as seen in the picture above and below.

A little over an hour after leaving, we crossed into Colorado.

Towaoc is about 11 miles south of Cortez, CO.  Here in Towaoc, we are staying in the RV park (Sleeping Ute) at the Ute Mountain Casino.  It was much cheaper to stay here than anywhere in Cortez.  We chose to have only electric and water since we are only staying 3 nights.
We are on an end site with nice wide space between the sites.  We arrived about noon, set up and had lunch.

We decided since it was so early in the afternoon that we would go to the Four Corners Monument on the Navajo Nation.

We could see these mountains in the distance during the first 5 miles of the 26 mile drive.

In the next 3 miles we saw this tower above and the ones below also.

The last 18 miles to the Four Corners Monument was pretty desolate.

I'd never been to Four Corners so did not know what to expect.

Well, here we are.  Tic is standing in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Arizona all at one time.  People stood in line to be able to take a picture of themselves standing in all four states at one time.

After that exciting event. we headed to Cortez to go shopping at Walmart.  I had a long list.

This pretty mural was on the side of a jewelry store we passed.  Tic was quick at getting this picture.

On the way home from shopping, we passed a salvage yard with these buzzards picking at a wrecked car.  Too cute!

These buzzards are on another part of the same roof.

We got home and decided to try the restaurant at the casino here.
This is the restaurant.  Tic ordered green chili stew with Indian fry bread.  He was very happy with his choice.  I ordered enchiladas with green chili sauce.  There was so much I could not finish it.  We did not have to cook or clean up.

The RV park gave us $5.00 per night to use at the casino.  So after dinner we decided to try our luck on the penny machines. We started with $5.00 ended up with $1.00 on our card and won $7.20 in cash.  Not bad for not spending any of our own money.  What a way to end the day, no cooking, no cleanup and $7.20 in cash ahead.  I feel like a big winner!
