Pocatello, ID and East Idaho State Fair & Rodeo

Wow, it is 9-12-15 now.  I am 4 days behind on my blog.  I'm going to try to catch up this evening.

Today we move from West Yellowstone, MT to Pocatello, ID.

View out the coach windshield as we are leaving West Yellowstone.

As we cross into Idaho, we also cross the Continental Divide at elevation of 7072 ft.

We are staying at the Bannock County RV Park in Pocatello.  We asked if the park could handle 40 ft motorcoach and were told yes.  We do stick out into the roadway but they did not have a problem with it. We had 50amp and water.  Just fine for 2 nights.  The highs are supposed to be in the mid to upper 80s so need to run both air conditioners.
You can see our front tires are on the gravel roadway. ☺

This is Pocatello from our living room window.

We are staying in Pocatello 2 nights so we can go to the East Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot, ID.  We set up and immediately left to see the exhibits and the rodeo.  I'm only showing the highlights of the afternoon and rodeo.

This fair is a big deal here.

The cakes on display were amazing!  The picture below is an over view of on part of the cakes.

As we walked around we even saw Mother Goose. ☺

They are prepping the Shires for show.

This is a grey Percheron being shown.  Beautiful!

These are not Clydesdales.  They are very similar but are Shire horses.  Shires have longer legs therefore taller than other draft horses.  We did not get any pictures of the Clydesdales they showed.

After grabbing a bite to eat, we headed to our seats at the rodeo.  We were told the mutton busting would be before the  actual rodeo.

We got to our seats to find the mutton busting already happening.  To our surprise, after the mutton busting, young boys, ages 9 to 13, did bull riding.

This is a 12 year old boy.  The young bull riders "only" had to ride 6 secs. Only one boy out of 8 completed their ride.  Look at the size of that bull!

From our seats at the rodeo, Tic got a cool picture of the sun setting.

Bareback riding is the only decent picture we got of most of the events.  The events included, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, steering roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and, of course, bull riding.

Here's one of the better pictures of barrel racing.

The following 2 pictures are the exhibit and amusement area, still from our rodeo seats. The rodeo was not over until about 10:30pm.

This is sunset from our living room window the next night.

Tomorrow, Thursday, we leave for Jordanelle State Park near Park City, UT.
