Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood, AZ

Friday & Saturday, April 24 & 25, 2015

These are our last 2 full days here.  Friday's weather is supposed to have a slight chance of rain with clouds and rain chances building on Saturday and Sunday.

There was a light rain about mid-afternoon on Friday.  It cleared off nicely so we decided to take a walk around some of the lagoons here at the park.

This is the tree just outside our living room window. You can see the rain drops still on the leaves.
This beautiful blue heron was at the lagoon's waters edge just as we parked and got out of the Jeep.
A little further down the path we saw a doe with her fawn.  They froze and stayed in those positions for a few minutes.  They blend pretty well.

This is the back side of one of the lagoons.  See the mountains in the background?  It was so peaceful around the lagoons.
There were little minnows in the lagoons.  I was surprised that I did not see any turtles.

There are lots of these big beautiful trees around here.  We are not sure what kind of tree they are.
At the top of a dead tree we saw this hawk.  We had to research it and figured out it is a ferruginous hawk.  Apparently they migrate through here and are not seen often.  Another of God's blessings on us.
This little duck looks beautiful against the green grass reflected on the water.
We got to the back side of another lagoon.  The clouds were reflected on the calm park of the lagoon.  Isn't it gorgeous!
We came upon an area of one of the lagoons was full of reeds and the red wing blacks birds were plentiful.  Tic got a great picture.

I have a thing for flowers and Tic has a thing for dead trees.  Isn't this dramatic!?!

There were several of these little black ducks.  Their bills are so very white.

Suddenly we spotted a small part of a rainbow in the sky.  Can you see it?

A birdwatcher pointed out this green winged heron to us.  It flew away soon after this picture was taken.  Its wings were very green when it was flying. Another blessing.

I could see sun beams shining through the clouds.  I asked Tic to take some black & whites.

See the sun beams?
I think black & whites of clouds are so dramatic.  Don't you agree?

The wind was blowing and making ripples on the water.  What a gorgeous site!
The ripples on the water had a silvery shimmer.  Tic captured it in this picture.

We headed home to have some dinner now.

It was overcast when we got up this morning.  It has been overcast, cool and raining off and on all day.

We did see this interesting larva in the same tree just outside our living room.
We're not sure if it is a butterfly or what.  We put it back into the tree.

We were just talking about how nice it is to have our home on wheels.  It is so comfy.  Tomorrow we move to Williams, AZ near the Grand Canyon.  Feeling totally blessed!
