Misc Pictures around Casa Grande, AZ

Sunday, April 11, 2015

We will be leaving Casa Grande, AZ in the morning, so I decided to put together some miscellaneous pictures I wanted to post.

This is an old mission now a museum in Casa Grande, AZ.  Cool rock building!
This large saguaro is blooming on the top.
This is a close-up of the top.  Gorgeous!
This cactus had red blooms.
This is a close-up of one of the red blooms.  Not sure if it is still opening or not.
One day we drove through a failed neighborhood that was to develop around a golf course.  There were a few houses, but mostly empty dry lots.  There were lots of ground squirrels running around.  I had to research to see which critter this actually was.

Across the street from the entrance to our RV Park is this field of corn.  This picture was taken on 4-5-15.
We have been saying that we could see the corn growing in size daily.  This is the picture we took 7 days later.  We are amazed how fast it grows.
All crops are watered using canal irrigation.  The canal flows under the road here where we are standing.  Also notice the fertilizer being put into the water.
This is the other side of the canal. The water is flowing fast and strong. You can see the flow is going to another field.  We did see this field irrigated one day and you could see the water flowing down between each row of corn.

Below are some more sunset pictures we took while here.

These are just a few of the beautiful sunsets we have had during our stay.

This is the main road into Casa Grande from the west side.  At 13ft 3in we would not be able to take the coach under this bridge.

The ARK.  Cute.  We walked through and there were clothes, furniture and some food.  We did not find 2 of anything except shoes.  Ha Ha

We saw this neat house we saw on the north side of town.  It turns out it housed a law firm.

We found this ritzy neighborhood that had this large pond.  See the line of palm trees on the left.  That was the main road into the neighborhood.
This  turtle was close to Tic when he took the picture of the pond.
There were also about 8 ducks.  Here are 3 mallards.
There was another duck with this tuft.  Tic said it reminded him that he himself needed to get a haircut. Ha Ha Ha
This is the same pond from the opposite end of the pond.  It seems extravagant considering the scarcity of water around here.

We had to try the Mexican food here.  This was the inside of the Macayo's Restaurant.  The building on this end of the mural says Nana's Cantina.  See close-up below.
I,Nana, liked this.
This is our dinner that evening.  Delicious!!!

The prickless prickly pear is blooming.  You can see the buds yet to blossom.

Tic found this hat in his cabinet today.  It is one that Jason gave us last spring.  Tic kept turning the brim up which looked so silly.  I told him if he did it again I was going to be forced to take a picture.  Here's the picture.  He is a nut!

It is getting warm here, so we are looking forward to moving northward to a higher elevation and cooler temperatures.  Tomorrow we will be going to Camp Verde RV Park not far from Sedona, AZ.
