Drive to Nakusp, BC and Halcyon Hot Springs

Friday, June 2, 2017

Today we move to Nakusp, BC.  It is only 2 hours away, but there are more hot springs I want to visit.

It rained on us about the first hour of our drive.  It was still a beautiful drive.  The clouds partially covering the mountains were gorgeous as seen both above and below.

We arrived at Coachman RV Park in Nakusp about 12:30pm  We have one of the nicest spots in the park.  Because of all the rain lately in this area the roads inside the park are poor.  We are only here one night. We learned that the hot springs here in Nakusp are closed temporarily because a mud slide took out a little over 1/2 mile of the road leading to Nakusp Hot Springs.  So as soon as we got settled we took off for Halcyon Hot Springs.

The beauty along the drive was magnificent!  The rain was dissipating so there was more sunshine.

This was at the ione rest stop.  The video below shows the whole waterfall.

A short distance down the road we saw Kuskanax Creek roaring as it headed for Upper Arrow Lake which is on the Slocan River.

This video is of Kuskanax Creek.

The next 4 pictures are of views along the drive to the Halcyon Hot Springs!

Above are 3 of the 4 pools at Halcyon Hot Springs.  The largest pool is kept around 100 degrees F. The next pool to the left is the hot pool kept around 104 degrees F.  The little pool farthest to the left is the Plunge Pool kept around 55 degrees F.

This is the view as you are soaking in the pools.  We were amazed at the amount of snow on the mountain tops just across Upper Arrow Lake.

This is the seasonal mineral pool kept around 88 degrees F.  Tic enjoyed this pool the most. I spent most of my time in the largest warm pool.

This closeup of the mountain across the lake show how deep the snow still is on the mountain top.

As we were driving back to the campground, we stopped and Tic got this great shot of Upper Arrow Lake with some different mountains in the background.  Stunning!  What more can I say?
