Drive from Spokane, WA to St. Regis, MT

Monday, August 24, 2015

Today is moving day.  We woke to Hazardous air quality in Spokane so are hoping for clearer air by the time we get to Montana.  Our drive is only 137 miles, but one can hope.

As we got onto I-90 headed east, this was the smokey condition.

As we crossed into Idaho, it was not any better.

As we drove by Lake Coeur d'Alene, the 3 pictures below are the best shots I could get.

The pictures almost look like black and whites.

We crossed into Montana at Lookout Pass elevation 4860 ft.  As you can see the sky is not any clearer.

We were told we needed to stop at 50,000 Silver $ along our way to St. Regis.
Wow, can't wait to get inside. ☺  We are told the bar area is covered in silver dollars.
This is general picture of the bar area.  Each of the plaques on the wall are filled with silver dollars.

This is looking up one wall.

This is part of the wall at one end of the bar.  See the $ sign made out of silver dollars?

Silver dollars are also embedded into the bar itself.  You can tell that many of the silver dollars are really old.  The ones that actually are solid silver.

The bar area was the most interesting part of the stop.  The restaurant wasn't anything special.  The gift shop was full of high priced novelty items.

We made it to our campground.  We are only staying one night.  Prices in this area are high.  They seem to gouge the RVers.  We only have 30 amp and no sewer and with a Good Sam discount it costs $35 per night and the spaces are narrow.

We are actually pulled forward into part of the space next to us.  They told us it would be ok for tonight.  Some of the other spaces seem to be a little wider.  No problem.  We are only here one night.
Notice also the sky looks pink in places.  That is because the smoke is so thick the sun is diffused.

WOW by sunset the sky had cleared some.
This was about 8:30pm tonight.  Nice.  No wonder my headache is finally gone.  The smoke has really been bothering me today.  Great way to end the day!!  We are so blessed!
