Lyndel, WA and Birch Bay, WA

Thursday, August 13, 2015

Today we decided to see some of the country side around here.  It is supposed to rain tomorrow.

First we went to Lyndel to wash the car.  Lyndel turned out to be a quaint little Dutch town.
We saw several windmills around town.

As you can tell, this was while we were driving down the street.

Next we headed to the post office to return the room key we accidentally kept when we left Stillwood.
The town of Custer was on our way to Birch Bay State Park.

The tide is obviously out.  Guess the boat owners will have to wait for high tide to be going out again.

We headed on up the road.  We ended up at Semiahmoo Resort at the end of a peninsula in Semiahmoo Bay.  Here you can nearly see the end of the peninsula.

This is a panoramic of a beach about half way out to the end of the peninsula.
These signs were posted on the beach.  We've seen these same signs on several beaches here in Washington.

This is the marina at Semiahmoo Resort.  Sailing is very popular here in northwestern Washington.

The tide is still out and this beach is full of rocks.  It would be heck to kick those when the tide is in.

Today we woke up to rain.  It rained most of the day so we stayed home.  Before lunch time, since we will be leaving the Pacific coast in 2 days, we decided to treat ourselves to a good seafood dinner.

This was our view from our table at Anthony's in Bellingham on the Squalicum Harbor.  It was still raining so the outside tables were closed.  They sure had lots of pretty flowers outside.

We shared a meal of salmon and halibut.  They split it in the kitchen.  Each of our plates looked like this.  We also had a cup of the delicious clam chowder.  We had plenty of food.

It was almost sunset by the time we finished dinner, so we decided to head to Birch Bay State Park and get some sunset pictures.

The following pictures are of the sunset.

Notice the thick rain storm clouds on the right side of the sunset.
This was the last picture we took.  The park closed to visitors at dusk.  We decided we had better get out of the park.

Good night to all!
