Manito Park, Spokane, WA

Thursday, August 20, 2015

Today our adventure starts in Manito Park in Spokane, WA.
We are pleased that the smoke is not severe today and plan to enjoy the outdoors today.

Manito Park is a 95 acre bought by city of Spokane in 1904.

We started out at Mirror Lake.  Pretty!

As we were walking we saw this beautiful rock bridge.

I thought this was a cool picture of the grounds being watered.  Tic is a true artist with the camera.

Next we found the Rose Hill Garden.  Look at the size of this rose.  Even the bud is large.

I'm not including the picture showing an overlook of the garden because it did not show the vividness of the roses.

I love yellow roses!

We also saw some beautiful miniature roses.

There was a small dahlia garden near the roses.  I'm loving dahlias now.

There are so many sizes, shapes and colors of dahlias!

This is just 3 very different dahlias.  Gorgeous!

Next we walked through the Japanese Garden.  It was so beautiful and tranquil.
This pond meandered through the Japanese Garden.
There was even a little waterfall.  I find the sound of flowing water relaxing.
This is so picturesque!  Tic is so good at capturing the beauty!  We relaxed in this area for a little bit.  It was so peaceful!

This area is called Duncan Garden.  In the middle was a water fountain and at the far end was a gazebo.  It was beautifully manicured.

Next we walked through the Gaiser Conservatory.  It housed many different plants from all over the world.
There were several orchids, I just picked this picture.

Look how perfect these tiny little flowers are.  I get awed at God's creations!

These are the buds of the flowers below.

These are the flowers open.  They look like they are made of wax.  Funny thing, they are called Wax flowers.

This is part of the Perenial Garden.

Many of the gardens are large and filled with blooming plants.  The only garden that was not in bloom was the Lilac Garden.  Since the lilacs were not blooming I did not include those pictures.

This area did not seem to have a particular name.  Absolutely gorgeous!  We walked through this area as we headed to car.  We spent about 2.5 hours walking through this magnificent park.  The best things in life are free!
